How to Spend a Perfect Mother-Daughter Weekend in Lake Geneva

Looking for the perfect destination for a mother-daughter getaway? Lake Geneva, Wisconsin offers a wonderful mix of lakeside beauty, boutique shopping, delicious dining, and relaxing experiences. During our three-day escape, we found plenty of ways to unwind, reconnect, and make memories together.

Things to Do in Lake Geneva

Walk the Geneva Lake Shore Path

Begin your visit with a walk along a portion of the Geneva Lake Shore Path. This 21-mile public trail winds past historic estates, beautiful gardens, beaches, and parks, offering some of the area’s most scenic lake views.

Cruise Geneva Lake

One of the best ways to experience Lake Geneva is from the water. Lake Geneva Cruise Line offers scenic, architectural, and dining cruises that share the area’s fascinating history. If you’re visiting in summer, don’t miss the unique U.S. Mailboat Tour, where mail jumpers deliver mail to lakeside homes from the moving boat.

Explore Downtown

Downtown Lake Geneva is filled with charming boutiques, art galleries, specialty shops, and sweet treats. Whether you’re browsing for gifts or enjoying an afternoon stroll, Main Street is worth exploring.

Where to Eat & Drink

Inspired Coffee serves excellent coffee while supporting an inspiring mission by employing individuals with disabilities.

Barrique Wine Bar pairs lake views with delicious small plates. We especially enjoyed the crab cakes and tequila-lime shrimp during happy hour.

Just 15 minutes away on Lake Como, Mars Resort offers the classic Wisconsin supper club experience with friendly service, hearty favorites, and beautiful waterfront views.

For a casual meal by the water, Gordy’s Boathouse Restaurant & Bar is a fun stop, whether you arrive by boat or car.

Sabi Sabi Thai is a hidden downtown gem serving flavorful spring rolls and noodle dishes—perfect after a day of exploring.

Where to Stay

Lake Geneva offers accommodations for every style and budget.

  • The Abbey Resort is casually elegant and features lakeside dining, pools, and a relaxing spa
  • Comfort Inn & Suites provides an affordable, convenient home base near downtown.
  • Grand Geneva Resort & Spa offers golf, hiking, biking, spa services, and upscale accommodations.
  • Maxwell Mansion is a historic boutique hotel within walking distance of the lake, complete with unique Speakeasy and Apothecary bars.
